Our bodies are wise. Our symptoms are our teachers. Each of us has bodily signs and symptoms that point us to how we, personally, can live a life of balance, harmony, well-being and integrity. According to a 2007 report from the Milken Institute, “as much as 70 percent of direct health care spending is to treat lifestyle-related conditions.” Since the lifestyle choices we make are in our hands, we have the power to steer clear of many of the conditions that lead to doctors’ visits. By becoming better observers of the way we lead our lives (e.g. the attitudes we carry and our eating, exercise, and sleeping habits) we can take new actions to transform our lives and choose to live the lives we are capable of living.
